PlaySmart is a proud supporter of the Playmakers Mentoring Program. In July, youth participants attended a Playmakers football camp which uses Values Based Coaching methods that all of their coaches are trained to use. The PlaySmart kids will are matched with a Captain who is trained in mentoring techniques who provides guidance and friendship. Captains and Pup (campers) each receive a Playmakers book which is focused on the benefits of building personal strength and character. Each Pup will also be quizzed on the book and upon completing the quiz, receive a Certificate of Completion in recognition of their becoming an “emerging man of character”. Playmakers also provides a clinic and information workshop for the parents to introduce them to the benefits and values of the Playmakers mentoring system and provide them with ideas on how to support their child in building character.
